The event is for people with learning disabilities and will include workshops, a marketplace and refreshments.

ÄûÃʵ¼°¹ Professionals: Autism suicide prevention training
Autism Oxford are offering free online training sessions for professionals in ÄûÃʵ¼°¹, supporting either children and young people or adults.
This training aims to give professionals tools to better support autistic individuals.
Professionals supporting children and young people:
- 30 April 10:30am
- 22 May 1:30pm and 10 July 1:30pm
Professionals supporting adults:
- 25 April 10:30am and 4 July 10:30am
- 3 June 1:30pm and 15 July 1:30pm
Each course is 2 sessions of 2.5 hours. It includes pre-learning, live sessions, and post-reflection to deepen your knowledge and skills. Certificates are provided when both parts are completed.

The government has passed a new law about supported housing. They want to stop bad landlords and make sure people get the support they need.
We are holding a housing consultation to learn and hear ideas from people with learning disabilities about their experience with landlords.

Autistic jobseekers peer support group recruiting new members
Spaces are available at a monthly online group for unemployed autistic adults that is free to attend, facilitated by employment consultants Mark & Georgia.
The group is for autistic jobseekers (18+) who either have an autism diagnosis or are actively seeking one and who are:
unemployed or working less than 4 hours per week
able to join the online sessions independently
not currently receiving 1-2-1 neurodiversity specific employment support
When: The third Friday of the month

Digital support for ÄûÃʵ¼°¹
A new Digital ÄûÃʵ¼°¹ website is now available, a central hub for digital inclusion resources in ÄûÃʵ¼°¹.
The site has information about digital support across the county, including how residents can learn new skills, access devices and sim cards, and understand topics like broadband coverage.
Get more active, feel great
ÄûÃʵ¼°¹ Coalition for Disabled People's Active Buddies project helps people with learning disabilities and autistic people to get more active.
You can talk to one of their staff about how to be more active and where to go. They can match you with an Active Buddy volunteer who can support you to visit activities. You can also join their free monthly events.

Autistic Burnout Network Conference 17 May 2025
Autistic burnout is a very serious issue, and it is vital that parents, autistic people and professionals working with autistic people understand it so that they know what support is appropriate. Autistic burnout can lead to serious mental health problems and a higher risk of suicide.
The is a 1-day virtual conference and includes lived experience neurodivergent speakers including Educational Psychologist Dr Joanne Riordan, Nurse Practitioner Laura Hellfeld and Clinical Psychologist Dr Alice Nicholls.

Morrisons supporting neurodivergent shoppers with sensory support boxes
To mark World Autism Acceptance Month, Morrisons has paired with the National Autistic Society to in its supermarkets across the UK. These boxes contain items such as fidget balls, spinners, and squish mats designed to help autistic and neurodivergent customers manage anxiety and have a more comfortable shopping experience.
Customers can request these boxes at the customer service kiosk at the start of their shopping trip. The Sensory Support Boxes are expected to be available in all approximately 500 Morrisons supermarkets by May.

April is World Autism Acceptance Month, an opportunity to raise awareness and create a society where autistic people are supported, understood, and empowered.
It is estimated that 700,000 people in the UK have a diagnosis of autism - around 1 in 100 people.
ÄûÃʵ¼°¹ Police know that some people with autism can find it difficult to communicate with them. This is where the Pegasus scheme can help. To make contact easier and save time in an emergency, you can pre-register your information with them for free.

Walk-in Covid-19 Vaccinations
Walk-in covid-19 vaccination sessions for people aged 75+ and those who are eligible based on NHS criteria. No appointment necessary.

Bowel Cancer Awareness Month
April is Bowel Cancer Awareness Month. Bowel Cancer screening is now available to everyone aged 54 to 74 when they become eligible. It will soon also include 50 to 53 years olds too. The NHS will automatically send a kit through the post every 2 years. The test can be done in the comfort of your own home. Make sure you do it when you do get one through your letter box.

Guildford social club for adults with learning disabilities
in Guildford will be re-starting monthly events. The club is for adults with learning disabilities and their friends, family and carers. There is a DJ, a licensed bar selling low cost drinks and a sensory chill-out zone. Food is available from 5:30pm and can be pre-ordered online. For the opening night on 16 April, entry will be free and includes a soft drink (subject to availability).
