UK Power Network (UKPN) works – Rowplatt Lane
UKPN will be undertaking utility installation works on Rowplatt Lane as part of infrastructure upgrades for a new residential development. These works are scheduled to begin on Monday, 5 May 2025, and are expected to continue until Thursday, 6 June 2025.
The project involves the installation of a low voltage electricity cable by UK Power Networks to provide power to the new homes adjacent to 24 Rowplatt Lane. In addition, new water and gas connections will be installed outside the development to ensure full service provision to the properties.
Phased Road closure for safety and access
To carry out these essential works safely, a temporary road closure will be in place along Rowplatt Lane for the duration of the works. To minimise disruption to residents, the road will be closed in sections of approximately 50 metres at a time. This phased approach will allow work to progress efficiently while maintaining access to residential properties at all times.
Works will commence at 24 Rowplatt Lane and progress toward the junction with Copthorne Road. The installation and reinstatement along Rowplatt Lane are expected to be completed by around 24 May, after which works will continue near the Copthorne Road junction. During this time, the road closure will remain in place as a safety measure and to avoid the need for temporary traffic signals on Rowplatt Lane.
We recognise that this type of work can cause disruption and inconvenience, however Streetworks team is working with the utility provider to keep this to a minimum completing works as efficiently and safely as possible.

Godstone sinkhole updates
A25, Godstone currently is closed in both directions due a large sinkhole. SES water, SGN and UK Power Networks are currently working on site.
While the situation is stabilising, it will be treated as an ongoing significant incident, which means all agencies in ÄûÃʵ¼°¹ working closely to focus on supporting residents and moving to repair and recovery.
We understand the disruption and uncertainty this is causing residents and those traveling near the area. We will continue to update this page as the works continue.
Diversion routes:
The diversion route for the road closure is A25 Oxted Road, A22 Godstone Bypass, Eastbourne Road. This diversion route has also been symbolised to reduce the confusion for the motorists. We are ensuring that parking restrictions are in place on Eastbourne Road from Monday onwards for the end of half term when we expect traffic levels to increase.
Properties in the wider area now have access to water and power as normal and the impacted homes are confined within the cordon. More permanent repairs will be carried out once the site is deemed safe to work in.
Oxted Road ( A25) is expected to be down to 1 set of lights soon as SES Water have completed and replaced the mains valve opposite/ adjacent to Salisbury Road, on the Eastbound side of the A25.
The set further up will stay in situ as this is allowing a standpipe to vent the smaller main being used to replace the supply of the larger one in the High Street.
Traffic impact on these lights has been minimal as reported after Streetworks officer's visit,
SES Water have confirmed that water had been restored to properties within RH1 and RH9.
More information about these works can be found on .
