Co-production can be defined as ‘a relationship where professionals and citizens share power to plan and deliver support together, recognising that both have vital contributions to make in order to improve quality of life for people and communities’ ().

Co-production is also:

  • an ethos: these are values which shape our culture
  • an approach: how we do things, and how we act, work and operate, shaped by our ethos

Co-production can include:

  • being a member of a steering or reference group
  • getting involved with training, buddying or staff induction
  • giving your expert advice on written content or the development of new services

Living well in later life

We're looking for people to get involved in helping us design future services. If you are aged 65 and over or an unpaid carer, we want to hear from you. You could get involved in:

ÄûÃʵ¼°¹ Coalition work with us to make sure disabled residents have a voice. They run groups that talk about local social care and health matters. Groups include:

Independent Mental Health Network

This network to work together with NHS service providers to improve care. Run by ÄûÃʵ¼°¹ Coalition, you can join this group if you:

  • are over 18 years old with lived experience of mental ill health
  • care for someone with mental ill health

FoCUS (Forum of Carers and People Who Use our Services)

ÄûÃʵ¼°¹ and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SABP) run 4 FoCUS groups. These groups are for people who use the Trust's services and their carers for:

  • mental health
  • learning disability
  • drug and alcohol

Groups meet quarterly to:

  • get the latest news from the Trust
  • give feedback or share concerns about services

A ÄûÃʵ¼°¹-wide network for people with learning disabilities.

  • share their views and experience
  • they can talk about issues important to them
  • work together to make real change

The Autism Reference Group is a group for autistic adults. The reference group meets 4 times a year to talk about things like:

  • employment
  • housing
  • health and social care services

SMEF represents the diverse views of ethnic minority communities and organisations with:
